Re: semi germinati
Non si può contraddire Mantranga, perchè l'articolo è stato scritto dopo verifiche ed analisi;
tuttavia nello stesso articolo si mette in risalto come un leggero aumento di proteine a scapito di una leggera perdita di grassi effettivamente ci sia (vedi tabella..manca nell'articolo riscritto sul forum);

From 27/11/1996 till 17/12/2002 I have fed 100 % pellets on advice of a veterinarian.
Brands used were Nutribird B14 and 18, Harrison crumbs and Pretty bird.
The consumption of the pellets depended on their taste.
(yes, I also tasted them myself ).
Nutribird: slightly nutty taste and regular daily consumption.
Harrison: no taste at all, disliked by the birds.
Pretty Bird: very sweet taste: but also very variable consumption (one day 30 grams per pair, the next 10 grams, 20 again, et cetera)
After the first breeding season I was very happy: I could ring the youngsters on average almost one day earlier than the year before.
From the second year on the problems arose: there were hardly any chicks I could put a ring on.
The parents simply refused to feed the freshly hatched babies with pellets, I had to give a mixture of seed + softfood again during the first two weeks, then gradually could change to pellets anew.
It got so bad that some pairs even refused to build a nest, let alone produce eggs and chicks.
Also the general condition of the birds seemed to detoriate.
After changing back to a seed mixture + softfood and some extra's the breedigresults changed dramatically.
For instance a pair of personatus that had refused to go to nest again produced a clutch of five healthy chicks.
Since I keep detailed records and discuss those with one of Europe's leading Avian veterinarians we have come to the conclusion that pellets are most likely not the ideal food for the smaller parrots.
My Amazon's , Poicephalus and African Greys on the contrary did produce well on a diet of almost 100 % pellets.
I think I am one of the few peple who have fed pellets during a period of 6 years, which in my eyes is sufficiently long to draw a definite conclusion and advise against their use.
Regards,
